Heavy Engineering & Precision Fabrication
Heavy engineering fabrication in Kolkata.
Gearbox housings, boiler and ESP structures, ash silos, cold boxes and chimneys, fabricated and CNC machined under one roof in Kolkata, to the customer’s drawings and inspection protocol.
Machining
Machined where the steel is fabricated.
Precision machining and assembly sit alongside fabrication, so housings and fitted parts move from the welding bay to the machine shop without leaving the works.
- Gearbox housings and casings
- Pulleys, flanges and fitted assemblies
- Assembly and fit-up before dispatch
What we make
Fabricated steel structures and equipment.
Incorporated in Kolkata in 2003, Metal Craft Engineering makes heavy and medium steel structures and equipment to the customer’s drawings.
- Bridge girders, boiler and ESP structures, chimneys and plate columns
- Silos and bunkers, cold boxes and ducting, industrial buildings and machined housings
- For EPC, OEM and boiler companies, utilities and a state government
- Steel for railways, roads, power, sugar, cement, mining and process plants
- Boilers and power
- Windboxes for NSPCL at Durgapur, SS304 headers for Isgec, a loop seal assembly, and cooling tower support steel for Paharpur.
- Stacks and columns
- A 40 m chimney supplied to Thermax for Tata Metaliks, and a 40 m plate column for Uttam Sucrotech in Noida.
- Silos and bunkers
- An SS304-lined ash silo for NSPCL at Durgapur, and bunkers and hoppers for Isgec.
- Process plant
- Linde India’s single-piece 100 MT cold box, process gas ducting, and a PEB warehouse structure.
- OEM parts
- A machined gearbox housing, and an induction furnace crucible for Megatherm.
Fabricated structures and equipment, by product family.
The product range from the company profile, grouped by where the steel goes. Everything is made to the customer’s drawings in mild steel, or in stainless steel where the job calls for it. Machined parts are finished in the same works.
- Boilers
- Boiler structure and boiler external items such as hoppers, bunkers and casings; windboxes, bed ash coolers and loop seal assemblies.
- Gas cleaning
- ESP and bag filter external items, chimneys and process gas ducting.
- Storage
- Bunkers and silos lined with Hardox, Tiscral or SS304, such as the SS304-lined ash silo for NSPCL and the hoppers and bunkers for Isgec.
- Process plant
- Cold boxes for oxygen plants, induction furnace crucibles, SS headers and discharge heads, and column pipes.
- Machined parts
- Fabricated gearbox housings, machined after welding; pulleys, flanges and fitted assemblies.
- Structures
- Conveyors, pipe supports and pipe rack structures, galvanised handrails and gratings, staircases and ladders, PEB warehouses, plate columns and support structures.
Heavy fabrication projects.
Fabricated, machined and finished in one works.
A job arrives as drawings, a material list and, often, the client’s own inspection protocol. From there:
- Plate and sections are cut by CNC plasma, bent or rolled where needed, fitted and welded
- Each stage is checked against the quality assurance plan written for that job
- Where the specification says so, welded parts are stress relieved before machining, so the bores stay true
- Housings and other machined items go to the machine shop and are fitted up with their mating parts before dispatch
- Finishing is blast cleaning and painting to the client’s paint system
- Large items, such as a 40 m column or a 20 m silo, leave in sections sized for the road and are joined on site
The five stages are described on the capabilities page.
