The factory unit at Domjur is approved under ISO 9001, and RDSO has approved it under Part A to fabricate open web, composite and other steel plate girders for Indian Railways.
Our facilities lie 7.5 km from NH16 and are connected by state highways; the airport is 30 km away and the nearest port 23 km.
A team of over 200 dedicated workers carries out MS and SS fabrication, CNC plasma cutting, material bending and rolling, assembly, and surface preparation and painting, with a specialised team of engineers for high-precision items.
The product range spans both divisions: bridges and bridge girders for Railway Bridges, and boiler structures, gearbox housings, ESP and bag filter items, chimneys, conveyors, lined silos, cold boxes, crucibles, pipe racks, headers, gratings, staircases and PEB warehouses for Heavy Engineering & Precision Fabrication.

Process
How a fabrication job runs.
A job starts from the customer’s drawings and inspection protocol, and a quality assurance plan is written for it. The steel is fabricated to those drawings, with stage-wise inspection as the work goes on. Where the specification asks for heat treatment, parts are stress relieved, with the temperature, soak time and cool-down that the job sets. Surfaces are then blast cleaned with copper slag, grit or sand and painted by spray or airless application, with ambient temperature and moisture kept under control. Machined parts are assembled and fitted up before dispatch, and quality documents come with the job on request. Large items can leave the works in sections to be joined on site: the 40 m plate column for Uttam Sucrotech went in four parts.

Metal Craft Engineering Private Limited was incorporated on 15 October 2003 under the Companies Act, 1956, and the Registrar of Companies, West Bengal, issued its Certificate of Incorporation at Kolkata. Its Memorandum of Association names engineering, in the electrical, electronic, civil and mechanical fields or any other field of engineering, as the company’s main object, with the company acting as fabricator, contractor, supplier, consultant and service provider. Its Corporate Identification Number (CIN) is U51503WB2003PTC097116. The registered office is at 1B, Elgin Road, 1st Floor, Kolkata 700 020, West Bengal, and the two units are at Domjur and Bargachia, in Howrah district.
Unit 1, Domjur, is the unit named in the ISO 9001:2015 certificate and the RDSO registration. The Kolkata office and the Domjur factory are certified to ISO 9001:2015; the certificate details are on the certifications page.
RDSO, the Research Designs and Standards Organisation of the Ministry of Railways, included the company in its Vendor directory by Final Decision Letter No. RDSO/108/1901/00024414 dated 1 September 2022, on registration request ID 14715 of 7 June 2022. The approved item is the fabrication of steel bridge girders (item 3100425), sub-item 3100425002, open web, composite and other steel plate girder (Part A), category Approved, at Unit 1, Domjur. The next RDSO quality audit is due on 30 August 2027.

Our story
A leading steel fabricator and equipment manufacturer in Kolkata with a modern facility, supplying complete engineering solutions to major EPC, OEM and boiler companies across India, with operations around the globe. Metal Craft Engineering was incorporated in Kolkata in 2003. For over 20 years it has fabricated heavy steel: bridge girders, boiler structures, chimneys, silos and cold boxes for railway, utility, government, EPC, OEM and boiler clients. Its steel has gone to sites across India, and a boiler structure for Uttam Sucrotech was built for Djatiroto in Indonesia.
